Spanish-Norman Wins At Quarter Horse Congress
From October 4th-24, 1999, Columbus, Ohio hosted the All American Quarter Horse Congress with over 8,000 Quarter Horses from the United States, Europe and Latin America and one Spanish-Norman horse from Connecticut competing. Hamid Hill Farm's Spanish-Norman stallion Romántico H.H.F., owned by Allen and Linda Hamid of Woodbury, Connecticut won 4th place in the Pfizer Open Freestyle Reining competition, the popular competition sanctioned by the National Reining Horse Association. Romántico H.H.F. was exhibited by his trainer Garry McAllister of Harwinton, Connecticut. To the music of "Ride of the
Valkyries," both horse and rider performed in museum-quality armor
portraying the heritage of the rare Spanish-Norman breed, a genetic and
historical re-creation of the medieval knight's charger. Truly the warhorse
of the ages. The enthusiastic audience applauded the spins, sliding stops,
lead changes and roll-backs performed by the powerful, 16.1 hand, gray
stallion, who was sired by the legendary Andalusian, the late Embajador
IX of Hamid Hill Farm, Ltd. This victory followed close on the heels of Romántico's debut in West Springfield, Massachusetts at the New England Quarter Horse Association Show where he won 1st place in All Breed Open Reining on July 29 & 31, 1999. Romántico H.H.F.continues to thrill crowds with his exhibitions at such noted events as the Equine Affaire in West Springfield, Massachusetts and in Greenwich, Connecticut at the Greenwich Polo Club. A versatile sporthorse, he exemplifies the power, strength and athletic ability characteristic of the Spanish-Norman breed. Romántico H.H.F. is available for breeding during the year 2000 breeding season
